Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role:

Ngāti Porou Oranga are looking for an experienced and passionate Caseloading Midwife to join our Nāti Pēpi Team.  

As a Nāti Pēpi Caseloading Midwife you will be working across our East Coast communities from Gisborne to Matakaoa, Te Araroa and nestled in the center of our rohe is our very own birthing unit based in Te Puia Springs.

Nāti Pēpi is an indigenous maternal and infant wellbeing service, newly established in Te Tairāwhiti. We are a Kaupapa Māori centred service that blends clinical, social wellbeing and Rongoa Māori practices to offer whānau an integrated maternal and infant wellbeing service, investing into whānau ora.

Nāti Pēpi is a unique service specialising in the future of our community through providing a high access service, sharing matauranga on traditional birthing and parenting practices and strengthening the cultural identity of whānau and kaimahi and supporting the mana motuhake of the whānau to thrive.

As a Caseloading Midwife, you will work within a dynamic, professional and nurturing team environment with a shared caseload, where we support the professional and cultural development of our kaimahi.

This is a Permanent Full-time position based across Te Tairāwhiti, working a shared roster, offering work life balance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Midwifery.
  • Current registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
  • Current Advanced CPR level 7 and neonatal resuscitation certification.
  • Current Vulnerable Children’s Worker accreditation.
  • Have the ability to connect with patients on a personal level and show genuine empathy is crucial for this role.
  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to hapū wāhine, pregnant individuals and their whānau.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and informed choices of hapū wāhine, pregnant individuals and their whānau.
  • A high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and the Ottawa charter.
  • Proactive in exemplifying the organisation's values, embedding Ngati Poroutanga in all work practices.

Operating Competencies:

  • Full, clean NZ Driver License.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a range of skills, knowledge, and attitudes that contribute positively to the organisation’s purpose.
  • Actively participate in performance management strategies that align with the goals and strategic direction of the organisation.
