Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role:

We have 1 x Casual and 1 x Flexi Fixed-Term Kaimahi Residence – Te Whare Awhina positions available

These positions work on a 24/7 rotating roster pattern,12-hour shifts including night shift work, across Monday to Sunday, as and when required.

Immediate start, casual

You will be joining our team of passionate and experienced Kaimahi, providing culturally responsive supervision and monitoring of Rangatahi in residence while ensuring the smooth day to day running of the facility, reporting to our Te Whare Awhina Team Leader &Care Services Manager.

 

Specifically, the duties of the Kaimahi include:

·        Provide day to day care and management of Rangatahi in residence

·        Promote the personal, educational, and social development of Rangatahi

·        Respond to the needs and interest of the Rangatahi and work in a range environment conducive to their needs

 

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako - Essential Skills &Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Qualifications and technicalskills:

•       A clean Full NZ current driver’s license is essential

•       Level 3 Health and Wellbeing Qualification or relevant experience in care service

•       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•       Excellent observation skills

•       Behaviour management and conflict resolution skills

•       Calm and professional manner, with the ability to maintain performance under stress

•       Positive role modelling, and being consistent and confident in behaviour

•       Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns in particular knowledgeof tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples ‘culture

•       Consents to undertake VCA Vetting

•       CurrentFirst Aid Certificate

 

Experience:

•       Experience working with Rangatahi

•       Previous experience in social services working or other relevant experience

•       Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner

•       Empathetic and non-judgmental

•       Engages effectively with family/whanau to ensure participation in decision making

 

Operational Competencies

•       Physically fit or physically capable

•       Passion for working with Rangatahi

•       Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

•       Ability to multitask in a fast paced and deadline driven environment

•       Ability to react quickly and appropriately to bad behaviour
